The term that accurately refers to a car owned temporarily for a short period for personal use is a rental car. Rental cars are usually offered by companies that allow customers to rent a vehicle for a short duration, typically for personal travel, business trips, or as a replacement while their own car is in repair. This arrangement provides convenience and flexibility without the long-term commitment of purchasing a vehicle.

The term "owned car" is misleading in this context, as it suggests that the vehicle is something that someone has purchased outright, which contradicts the requirement for temporary ownership. "Substituted vehicle" could imply a vehicle used temporarily to replace another owned vehicle but does not specifically relate to the arrangement of obtaining a car for short-term personal use. Lastly, "non-owned car" generally refers to vehicles that an individual does not own and could include borrowed cars, which does not describe the structured rental arrangement. Thus, rental car is the most fitting term for the context provided.
